NOTE FROM THE EDITORS-IN-CHIEF

“Regionalism Who Dares, Wins”

The British SAS is one of the most effective military Special Forces groups in the world. Their motto has served them well: “Who Dares, Wins.” It is simple and to the point. If you have the courage to seize the momentum, you will win the day.

Northeast Ohio presently has a group of political leaders who are demonstrating this “daring” sentiment and fortitude as it relates to regionalism. Regionalism is not a new concept. Discussions about greater efficiencies and government reform have been underway for nearly 30 years. What is new, however, is the enthusiasm and genuine interest the topic has generated in recent months.

Another European military motto that comes to mind when thinking about Northeast Ohio is the famed mercenary motto of the French Foreign Legion: “March or Die.” The time to act is now! Northeast Ohio can move forward and thrive as a region or be left behind to wither and die.

We ask that municipal leaders join the ranks of the mayors who are presently
“marching boldly” and “daring to win,” such as… William Currin (Hudson), Bruce Akers (Pepper Pike), Dennis Clough (Westlake), Joseph Cicero (Lyndhurst), Glenn Goodwin (Broadview Heights), Thomas O’Grady (North Olmstead),
Daniel Pocek (Bedford), Kathy Procop (Twinsburg), Judy Rawson (Shaker Hts.), Martin Zannotti (Parma Hts.), Deborah Sutherland (Bay Village), Georgine Welo (South Euclid) and others.

A movement of genuine regionalism is underway. With the bold support of regional municipal leaders, Northeast Ohio could become a regional powerhouse.    We at the Municipal Leader Magazine support this bold initiative. It is our hope other municipal leaders who possess political courage and fortitude will join with us as we march toward a brighter future for NEO.

Sincerely,
